今年聯(lián)合國(guó)日的主題是“展望、連結(jié)、變革，塑造我們共同的未來(lái) ”，這和啟明星培養(yǎng)擁有社會(huì)創(chuàng)新素養(yǎng)和國(guó)際視野人才的教育理念高度契合。
10月23日，啟明星北皋校區(qū)迎來(lái)兩位前聯(lián)合國(guó)高級(jí)官員——
Janos Pasztor，聯(lián)合國(guó)前助理秘書(shū)長(zhǎng)，現(xiàn)任全球青年領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力發(fā)展理事會(huì)首席氣候治理與青年參與顧問(wèn)，
Fabrizio Hochschild-Drummond，聯(lián)合國(guó)前副秘書(shū)長(zhǎng)，曾任聯(lián)合國(guó)秘書(shū)長(zhǎng)特別顧問(wèn)，現(xiàn)任全球青年領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力發(fā)展理事會(huì)首席全球治理與青年領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力顧問(wèn)。
我們9年級(jí)的李青邁和10年級(jí)的Bayan Changizi負(fù)責(zé)這場(chǎng)“高規(guī)格”的接待。

擁有大量粉絲的FROOT
兩位嘉賓邊聽(tīng)學(xué)生們的講解邊提問(wèn)。他們對(duì)啟明星的一切都很好奇，特別是啟明星的特色項(xiàng)目——社會(huì)創(chuàng)新項(xiàng)目。
“嘉賓對(duì)我們的社會(huì)創(chuàng)新項(xiàng)目很感興趣，我就用自己的PFC（力求改變的項(xiàng)目）作為例子給他們解釋?！盉ayan說(shuō)。
Bayan的PFC項(xiàng)目叫做FROOT，是他和同學(xué)們合作運(yùn)營(yíng)的一個(gè)有機(jī)農(nóng)場(chǎng)。
FROOT的初衷有二：
?呼吁大家關(guān)注和支持本地農(nóng)場(chǎng)出產(chǎn)的綠色農(nóng)產(chǎn)品，來(lái)減少碳排放，對(duì)抗全球氣候變暖
?鼓勵(lì)人們定期去農(nóng)場(chǎng)勞作，避免久坐在電腦前、書(shū)桌前的不健康生活方式
在FROOT農(nóng)場(chǎng)，大家一起種下制作感恩節(jié)南瓜燈剩下的南瓜子，收獲這里依靠純有機(jī)肥成長(zhǎng)的蔬菜，撿拾走地雞產(chǎn)下的蛋.....
今年，Bayan開(kāi)始養(yǎng)殖蜜蜂了。他從附近的蜂農(nóng)那里討來(lái)一些蜜蜂，正忙著幫助它們過(guò)冬。可以想象，來(lái)年春夏，蜜蜂在農(nóng)場(chǎng)里飛舞，幫助果蔬授粉的情景是多么生機(jī)盎然！
FROOT在啟明星社區(qū)擁有很多粉絲，家長(zhǎng)、老師、學(xué)生是FROOT產(chǎn)品的忠實(shí)消費(fèi)者，也以FROOT為基地，舉辦符合可持續(xù)發(fā)展理念的工作坊和社區(qū)活動(dòng)！
得到社會(huì)認(rèn)可，入選FFC
啟明星學(xué)生的社會(huì)創(chuàng)新項(xiàng)目關(guān)注解決現(xiàn)實(shí)問(wèn)題，除了服務(wù)本社區(qū)，也開(kāi)始走出校園，得到社會(huì)的認(rèn)可。
比如，10年級(jí)學(xué)生黃吉瀚的改善鄉(xiāng)村口腔健康問(wèn)題項(xiàng)目就格外出眾——通過(guò)全國(guó)范圍的層層選拔，入選了由啟創(chuàng)中心和哥倫比亞大學(xué)北京中心合作舉辦的2024年力求改變的英才計(jì)劃（FFC）。
吉瀚自2019年就開(kāi)始了這個(gè)項(xiàng)目。他到過(guò)許多鄉(xiāng)村，比如在青海囊謙縣開(kāi)展志愿服務(wù)，2023年夏天隨中國(guó)口腔健康基金會(huì)代表團(tuán)前往新疆，向那里可能從未接觸過(guò)牙醫(yī)或從未接受過(guò)有關(guān)口腔健康教育的兒童普及知識(shí)。
通過(guò)在吐魯番市山中雛菊項(xiàng)目的服務(wù)經(jīng)歷，吉瀚意識(shí)到當(dāng)?shù)貙W(xué)生們的口腔健康問(wèn)題——由于缺乏基本的健康和衛(wèi)生教育，這些孩子有著口腔健康問(wèn)題，而且隨著年齡的增長(zhǎng)，這些問(wèn)題可能會(huì)變得越來(lái)越嚴(yán)重。
入選FFC項(xiàng)目后，吉瀚學(xué)習(xí)了系統(tǒng)性變革，他意識(shí)到必須讓學(xué)校、家庭、診所甚至企業(yè)都參與進(jìn)來(lái)，才能找到可持續(xù)的解決方案。于是，他將在新疆進(jìn)一步調(diào)查，對(duì)學(xué)校以及當(dāng)?shù)卦\所進(jìn)行訪談，開(kāi)展 “行走一英里”活動(dòng)。
與此同時(shí)，吉瀚也正在探索有助于解決他提出的 “我們?nèi)绾尾拍芨纳凄l(xiāng)村兒童口腔健康 ”問(wèn)題的思路：
?我們?nèi)绾蜗蜞l(xiāng)村學(xué)生提供口腔健康信息，讓他們了解如何避免口腔患病的高風(fēng)險(xiǎn)以及如何保持良好口腔衛(wèi)生的方法？
?我們?cè)撊绾闻c當(dāng)?shù)卦\所合作，讓他們能夠隨時(shí)獲得有關(guān)口腔健康的醫(yī)療幫助？
?我們?nèi)绾闻c當(dāng)?shù)仄髽I(yè)合作，為鄉(xiāng)村人口提供保持口腔健康所需的物品？

The theme for this year’s UN Day is “Aspire, Connect, Transform, For Our Common Future.” The celebration aims to spark dialogue about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aligning perfectly with Daystar Academy’s educational philosophy of nurturing students to develop social innovation skills and an international perspective.
On October 23, Daystar's Beigao campus welcomed two distinguished guests: Janos Pasztor and Fabrizio Hochschild-Drummond.

Daystar sent ninth grade student Maimai (Qingmai Li) and tenth grade student Bayan Changizi to host this "high-profile" visit.

Moments of Intrigue and Curiosity
As they listened to Maimai and Bayan introduce Daystar, Mr. Pastzor and Mr. Hochschild-Drummond were excited to learn more.A particular area of interest was how Daystar's Social Innovation Program is structured and integrated into the curriculum.
"The guests were very interested in our Social Innovation Program, so I used my PFC (Project for Change) project as an example to explain to them," said Bayan.
His PFC project is running an organic farm FROOT with his friends. They use the farm to offer sustainable development courses and sell green products.
FROOT's Dual Purposes:
? To call on everyone to pay attention to and support locally-grown, green agricultural products, to reduce carbon emissions, combat global climate change, and mitigate climate refugee crises;
? To encourage everyone to go work on farms regularly, avoiding the unhealthy sedentary lifestyle of constantly sitting at computers and desks.
At the FROOT farm, everyone works together to plant seeds from the pumpkins used for Halloween jack-o'-lanterns, harvest the organically-grown vegetables, and collect the eggs laid by FROOT’s free-range chickens.
This year, Bayan has started beekeeping. He obtained some bees from a nearby beekeeper and is now busy helping them get through the winter. He looks forward to next spring and summer, when the bees can help pollinate the fruits and vegetables at the farm!
FROOT has many fans in the Daystar community. Parents, teachers, and students are not only loyal consumers of FROOT products, but also use the farm as a base to host workshops and community events aligned with the principles of sustainable development!
Gaining Social Recognition
Daystar students' social innovation projects focus on solving real-world problems. In addition to serving our own community, they have also started to venture beyond the campus and gain recognition from society.
For example, tenth grade student Jihan Huang's project to improve rural oral health has not only gained recognition within the Daystar community, but also received external validation.After a rigorous selection process, the project was chosen for the 2024 Fellowship for Change (FFC) program.
FFC is a national social innovation program organized by Columbia Global Centers and Qi Social Innovation Center. It selects and supports innovative projects that aim to address pressing social and environmental issues in China. Jihan's project stood out among applicants nationwide for its thoughtful design and potential for sustainable impact.
As an FFC awardee, Jihan's project will receive mentorship, and opportunities to collaborate with other social innovators. This recognition motivates Jihan to further refine and scale his initiative, with the ultimate goal of ensuring accessible, quality oral healthcare for children in rural and underserved communities across China.
After being selected for the FFC program, Jihan learned about systemic change, realizing that sustainable solutions require the participation of schools, families, clinics, and even businesses. He plans to conduct further investigations in Xinjiang, interviewing schools and local clinics, and launching a "walk a mile" activity.
At the same time, he is exploring approaches to address the question he identified: "How can we improve rural children's oral health?"
? How can we provide oral health information to rural students, helping them understand how to avoid high-risk oral diseases and maintain good oral hygiene?
? How can we collaborate with local clinics to ensure they can provide timely medical assistance related to oral health?
? How can we partner with local businesses to supply the necessary items for rural populations to maintain good oral health?
On December 14, Daystar will hold anOpen House, including on-site explanations about Daystar's distinctive Social Innovation Program.All are welcome to sign up and attend!
