中國駐舊金山總領(lǐng)館2日證實，當(dāng)?shù)貢r間5月1日晚，美國愛達(dá)荷州黃石國家公園附近發(fā)生重大交通事故，據(jù)初步了解，事故造成5名中國公民死亡、8名中國公民受傷。事故原因正在調(diào)查之中。

China's Consulate-General in San Francisco confirmed to Xinhua News Agency that a serious traffic accident occurred near Yellowstone National Park in Idaho on the evening of May 1 (local time). Preliminary reports indicate that five Chinese citizens were killed and eight others injured. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

中國駐舊金山總領(lǐng)館向遇難者表示深切哀悼，向傷者和遇難者家屬表示誠摯慰問。

總領(lǐng)館表示，已第一時間啟動領(lǐng)事保護(hù)應(yīng)急機(jī)制，為傷者和遇難者家屬提供領(lǐng)事保護(hù)與協(xié)助。已要求美方調(diào)查核實有關(guān)情況并向中方作正式通報，全力搶救傷員，為遇難者家屬善后提供協(xié)助?？傤I(lǐng)館表示，將繼續(xù)全力做好后續(xù)工作。

The Consulate-General expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and extended sincere sympathy to the injured. An emergency consular protection mechanism was immediately activated to assist the victims and their families. The Consulate-General has urged the US side to investigate the incident, provide a formal report to China, ensure full medical treatment for the injured, and support the bereaved in handling follow-up matters. The Consulate-General stated it will continue to make every effort in ongoing support and coordination.

愛達(dá)荷州警方2日說，這起事故發(fā)生在黃石國家公園以西約26公里的亨利湖州立公園附近的一條公路上。5月1日傍晚，一輛皮卡車與一輛旅游面包車相撞后均起火，皮卡車司機(jī)身亡，旅游面包車內(nèi)有乘客遇難。
