直播期間，給“甲亢哥”當(dāng)隨身翻譯的網(wǎng)紅李美越，卻在網(wǎng)上引起不小的爭(zhēng)議。
A recent livestreamed tour of China by American internet celebrity IShowSpeed has ignited heated debates following accusations that his translator, Miles Moretti, repeatedly misrepresented conversations and used culturally insensitive language.
據(jù)北京青年報(bào)消息，4月5日，央視新聞《新聞周刊》欄目播出“本周人物 甲亢哥：奇幻中國(guó)行”，有細(xì)心的網(wǎng)友發(fā)現(xiàn)，網(wǎng)紅李美越被打碼。
The backlash intensified when China Central Television aired a segment of IShowSpeed's visit on Saturday, blurring Moretti's face during its coverage—a move interpreted by many as tacit disapproval.
此前，李美越給“甲亢哥”當(dāng)隨身翻譯時(shí)，被網(wǎng)友指責(zé)其曲解原意、用詞不當(dāng)。
在直播期間，甲亢哥去理發(fā)店，理發(fā)師說(shuō)臟辮結(jié)構(gòu)復(fù)雜，解開(kāi)就沒(méi)法恢復(fù)原樣，李美越卻跟甲亢哥說(shuō)理發(fā)師嫌頭發(fā)臟，不給做頭發(fā)。
The dispute erupted after viewers flagged multiple instances of alleged mistranslation during broadcasts. In one segment at a hair salon, a stylist explained that IShowSpeed's dreadlocks could not be undone without damage due to their complex structure. 李美越在車(chē)上嘗試介紹中國(guó)女孩給甲亢哥，但是用到了chick in China，甲亢哥表示“no”。不少網(wǎng)友指出“chick”含貶義，認(rèn)為李美越用詞不當(dāng)。李美越在評(píng)論區(qū)表示“chick就是女孩的意思，人家在上海去了相親角，我這么問(wèn)有毛病嗎?！?/p>
在出行期間李美越用英語(yǔ)表示這些粉絲太嚇人了，不像正常人。
事后，有不少博主和網(wǎng)友發(fā)視頻，喊話李美越出來(lái)道歉。
4月1日晚，李美越發(fā)布視頻致歉，稱(chēng)自己不可能故意毀壞中國(guó)形象，他是因?yàn)楣?jié)目效果、文化差異等原因，造成誤會(huì)。他還提到在理發(fā)店時(shí)的表現(xiàn)不佳，給理發(fā)師和店鋪帶來(lái)了尷尬。
李美越表示：“部分博主曲解了我的原意，我一直做的是中國(guó)文化出海內(nèi)容，不可能故意毀壞中國(guó)形象；根據(jù)‘甲亢哥’和其他粉絲一直以來(lái)的互動(dòng)方式，選擇了為難、調(diào)侃的節(jié)目效果，事后看確實(shí)效果不太好；如果大家覺(jué)得不舒服我道歉，以后也會(huì)考慮每句話和行為。”
Facing mounting pressure, Moretti issued a public apology on Tuesday, denying intentional harm but acknowledging "poorly executed" attempts at humor and cultural missteps. "I've dedicated my career to promoting Chinese culture globally and would never sabotage China's image," he asserted, framing the incidents as misguided efforts to align with IShowSpeed's signature "edgy" style through playful banter. He specifically apologized for the salon misunderstanding, which he admitted caused embarrassment for the staff.
李美越進(jìn)一步澄清，自己從小在美國(guó)長(zhǎng)大，習(xí)慣用“chick”和“dude”來(lái)稱(chēng)呼女性和男性。“Chinese chick”的意思是中國(guó)的女孩，并非貶義詞。
據(jù)了解，李美越出生在一個(gè)有中國(guó)和英國(guó)血統(tǒng)的越南裔美國(guó)家庭。
In response to criticism over his use of the word "chick," Moretti defended himself, claiming the term was neutral and citing his upbringing in the US where "chick" and "dude" are used colloquially. Critics, however, argued that the term carried derogatory connotations.
在劍橋英語(yǔ)詞典中，“chick”的相關(guān)釋義為“女孩；少女；小妞兒”，并被標(biāo)注為“冒犯性用語(yǔ)”。
對(duì)于“chick”一詞的使用，雙語(yǔ)君咨詢了中國(guó)日?qǐng)?bào)的外國(guó)專(zhuān)家。她認(rèn)為，該詞具有物化女性的嫌疑，“相當(dāng)于把女性稱(chēng)作小雞，這令人不適?！?/p>
然而，也有觀點(diǎn)指出，“chick”一詞源自美國(guó)俚語(yǔ)，通常用于非正式場(chǎng)合指代年輕女性，類(lèi)似于中文里的“妹子”或“姑娘”。是否冒犯取決于具體語(yǔ)境、使用者的意圖以及對(duì)方的感受。
關(guān)于對(duì)中國(guó)粉絲的評(píng)價(jià)，他表示這是基于觀看甲亢哥之前的視頻后得出的結(jié)論，認(rèn)為一些粉絲的行為不太正常。
截至目前，李美越掉粉已超30萬(wàn)。在其評(píng)論區(qū)，有不少網(wǎng)友對(duì)他的道歉并不買(mǎi)賬。
據(jù)九派新聞消息，4月7日，理發(fā)店工作人員表示，李美越并未向門(mén)店私下道歉，但是有看到他的公共道歉視頻，門(mén)店和店員也都接受他的道歉。其稱(chēng)，因?yàn)椴欢⑽?，?dāng)時(shí)并不知道李美越翻譯的內(nèi)容是什么，但此事對(duì)門(mén)店產(chǎn)生了負(fù)面影響，通過(guò)短視頻平臺(tái)來(lái)理發(fā)的客流量少了30%。
Public response to his apology, however, remained largely critical, with Moretti losing over 300,000 followers amid accusations of insincerity. Meanwhile, the hair salon involved has confirmed Moretti has not privately apologized for the episode but has accepted his public statement, noting a 30 percent drop in social media-driven foot traffic following the incident.
