從木箱到云端
“這些照片曾躺在英國閣樓的木箱里，或被遺忘在博物館角落?！?a class="keyword-search" >布里斯托大學(xué)畢可思教授團隊歷時18年，在全球搜尋散落民間的中國影像。最珍貴的一組照片竟來自一位退休工程師的地下室——其祖父是20世紀(jì)初漢口海關(guān)官員，用相機記錄下長江沿岸的市井煙火。
"These photos once lay forgotten in British attics or museum archives," says Prof. Robert Bickers. Over 18 years, his team scoured the globe for China’s visual history. The most striking collection came from a retired engineer’s basement—his grandfather, a customs officer in 1900s Hankou, captured daily life along the Yangtze River.
重慶1945年的彩色記憶
當(dāng)多數(shù)歷史照片仍是黑白時，一組罕見的柯達彩色膠片震撼亮相：1945年的重慶街頭，黃包車夫在防空洞旁等待生意，江邊婦女晾曬著靛藍染布，茶館里戴圓框眼鏡的說書人正眉飛色舞——這些由英國飛行員約翰·威爾遜拍攝的影像，讓抗戰(zhàn)時期的市井生活躍然眼前。
While most historical photos remain monochrome, a set of Kodachrome slides stuns viewers: rickshaw pullers waiting near bomb shelters, women drying indigo fabrics by the river, a storyteller in a teahouse—all captured in vivid color by British pilot John Wilson during WWII.
