Many Chinese young people are engaging in “digital mourning” for their deceased relatives in the virtual realm during Qingming Festival. Some have developed mini-games dedicated to their late grandmothers, using mundane daily activities as a way to express their grief. Others opt to build memorial gardens and create “virtual avatars” of their deceased loved ones in their favorite games. They are learning to “say goodbye” to their deceased loved ones in the virtual world.
